M-SAM Block-III — Operations & Engagement Control Centre
This control centre has to work alongside another system's control centre. Designing one now means designing the seam.
M-SAM Block-III inherits the L-SAM control centre and extends it into integrated air defence, where the two are operated as one.
The inheritance is what makes it difficult, not what makes it easy. Carrying a design forward means understanding the weapon system well enough to know which of its conventions still hold — and the work reached past the screens into the integration test equipment, the development bench, the tactical telephone and parts of the hardware.
We built the development support tools first and the control system after. The tools are where a system's actual behaviour becomes visible.
