04 WHAT AEON WORKED THROUGH HERE
Searching across everything meant results could include what the person was not permitted to open, and sometimes the title alone was the part that mattered. Leaving those out made the collection look smaller than it was and sent people looking elsewhere; showing them as blocked told them precisely what existed. The work went into what a restricted result says about itself — enough to stop the attempt, not enough to be the answer.
What stays unresolved is what an absence in a result list means — a search that omits restricted items teaches people that what they cannot find does not exist, and one that shows them as withheld has told them where to ask.
