FORM ASSERTS KIND
Two things given the same outline are read as two of the same thing.
01 DEFINITION
Condition in which things that share no behaviour are presented in one repeated container, so the sameness of the container is read as a statement about them, and what a person learns from operating one is carried to another that cannot support it.

04 WHAT AEON WORKED THROUGH HERE
Hundreds of kinds of equipment with almost nothing in common had to appear in one list, and the container that made the list surveyable also made a lamp and a lock look like siblings. People learned a gesture on one and brought it to another that did nothing with it. The work went into which differences the shared form was obliged to carry, rather than into how many variants of it to draw.
What stays unresolved is how much a shared form is entitled to promise — a container loose enough to be honest about the differences stops being the thing that made a large collection surveyable, and one tight enough to survey teaches a likeness that is not there.
