04 WHAT AEON WORKED THROUGH HERE
A chart built for a pointer carried a whole register of enquiry: passing over a value, reading it, moving on, having committed to nothing. Where the work is done by hand there is no passing over — a finger is down or it is not. The work went into what the surface offers for a movement that is neither idle nor final, so that a person could still ask something before deciding it.
The question it keeps returning to is where the asking went — putting it behind a deliberate step means people stop asking, and giving it back by making everything answer to any gesture returns a surface that replies to questions nobody put.
