04 WHAT AEON WORKED THROUGH HERE
Everything that was not the main reading was dimmed so the main reading could be held for hours, and the dimming was settled on a day when nothing was happening. The changes that mattered were in the dimmed parts often enough that this was not a rare failure. The work went into what earns its way back to full weight and on whose authority, rather than into how far down the rest should go.
The question it keeps returning to is how something quietened announces that it has become the thing to look at — a surface that can raise anything raises everything in the end, and one that cannot has decided in advance what will not be noticed.
