Condition in which an element is sent ahead precisely because losing it is acceptable, so the account it returns is the only account of a place no one else can enter, and the decision to follow it in rests on a report that cannot be checked against anything.

04 WHAT AEON WORKED THROUGH HERE
The element went first because it was the one that could be lost, which meant everything known about the place came from it and from nothing else. The people who would follow had to decide from a single unverifiable account. The work went into what that account has to say about what it could not see, and into where that sits relative to what it did.
What stays unresolved is what such a report owes about its own limits — an account that qualifies everything is not actionable, and one that does not invites people to walk into what it did not see.
