04 WHAT AEON WORKED THROUGH HERE
What mattered was not whether it was there but from when, and the thing did not start — it darkened. Two people reading the same trace put the beginning minutes apart and neither was wrong. The work went into what the surface could offer in place of a beginning: the shape of the emergence itself, so that a disagreement about when became a disagreement about something both could point at.
The question it keeps returning to is what an onset time is for — a mark placed early cannot be supported and one placed late cannot be used, and both are read afterwards as the moment the thing existed.
