04 WHAT AEON WORKED THROUGH HERE
Putting the alert and the response side by side was the point: notice, decide, act, without leaving the screen. What went missing was the deciding. A figure crossing a line somebody had set became the entire case for acting, and nobody who acted could say what the line had been set against. The work went into what the surface has to show beside the action — where the threshold came from, and how this case compares with the ones that produced it.
What stays unresolved is where the judging is meant to sit — separating the two returns people to a surface that reports and does not help, and joining them makes a number somebody chose into the whole reason for what was done.
