04 WHAT AEON WORKED THROUGH HERE
What arrived through one sense arrived whole and located: several things at once, each of them somewhere. Delivered through another it arrived in a queue, and a queue has no room for something that only mattered while it was still ahead. The work went into which properties had to survive the change of channel — direction at least, and simultaneity wherever the situation was moving — and into what the substitute is entitled to drop when it cannot carry them all.
The question it keeps returning to is what the substitute channel is allowed to leave out — rendering everything in turn takes longer than the situation lasts, and choosing what to render is deciding on someone else's behalf what was worth knowing.
