04 WHAT AEON WORKED THROUGH HERE
People turned things off at the point of irritation, and the control within reach at that point was the broadest one. Nothing afterwards told them what had stopped arriving, so nothing ever prompted them to turn any of it back on. The work went into putting narrow controls at the moment of irritation rather than in a settings tree, and into what a surface owes about a channel it has been keeping quiet.
What stays unresolved is how a surface accounts for its own silence — listing what it withheld rebuilds the volume that was the reason for withholding, and listing nothing lets a whole channel go quiet without anyone having chosen that.
